Reclaimed shelves.

So, helped out the hubby in the shed today. We moved around some things to make way for the furniture making he is continuing. I am always reluctant to help out in this area - it can be messy and loud, not quite a drawcard for me. But, the end result always impresses me.

The ability to take an old ugly piece of timber and turn it into something beautiful and useable is amazing. I think hubby was the person who showed me how to appreciate timber and to salvage what we can, when we can. Although we sold a lot of our timber before we moved up here, we are beginning to replenish our stash.

Today we took four pieces of hardwood and stripped them back to show up all of the beautiful lines and knots in the timber. My job was to push the timber through the machine. About half an hour later we had some great new shelves.

I think they turned out great. So, stay tuned as we will have a lot more beautiful pieces in store soon.
